Uniqlo fashions peace
Global apparel retailer Uniqlo's recently rolled out its Peace For All Global Photo Exhibition in partnership with internationally renowned photographic cooperative Magnum Photos. The international exhibition was held simultaneously in different cities worldwide including New York, Tokyo, Hanoi, Paris, Milan, Shanghai, Singapore, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, and Stockholm. In Manila, the free exhibit was held at the Uniqlo Press Room, 2nd floor Uniqlo MANILA Global Flagship Store, Glorietta 5, Makati City. The Peace For All Photo Exhibition featured a curated collection of striking, joyful, profound photographs from Magnum photographers Cristina de Middel, Lindokuhle Sobekwa, and Olivia Arthur, who traveled to Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Romania to capture moments of Peace For All-funded support activities from their own perspectives. The project is intended as a worldwide reflection on the value of peace, to showcase the real-world impact of Uniqlo's ongoing Peace For All project."Peace For All is the brainchild of Uniqlo owner Tadashi Yanai. Affected by worldwide events, he realized that one day you are in your hometown and the next you have to flee the country. So, coming from that feeling of wanting to help with what I have right now, the initiative was born," said Uniqlo Philippines Head of PR and Sustainability Reichelle Vergara during the launch of the exhibit. The exhibition of over 63 photographs show the impact of ongoing customer support for Uniqlo's Peace For All charity T-shirt project, which in 2024 celebrates two years and over 1.5 billion yen in proceeds (approximately $10 million) raised to date. All profits from sales of Peace For All T-shirts are donated to three international humanitarian organizations — UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency), Save the Children, and Plan International — whose ongoing projects are captured in the exhibition.Beyond the exhibition, the partnership also produced three new Peace For All designs now available at Uniqlo stores and through Uniqlo.com, showcasing photos used around the world at Global Photo Exhibition-Peace For All."Uniqlo LifeWear has always been designed to make everyone's life better. With the newest Peace For All collaboration with Magnum Photos, not only do we provide customers with clothing that they can rely on for years to come, but we also shine a light on how Uniqlo's ongoing Peace For All project has contributed to bettering the lives of individuals and communities across the world," Vergara said. Each design depicts moments of Peace For All-supported humanitarian activities in Vietnam, Romania, and Ethiopia, as seen from the perspective of Magnum photographers involved in the exhibition.
