Ella Forster ’s ( Paula Lane ) nature is called into question in Emmerdale next week as she lashes out at a much-loved favourite after a particularly challenging day. The character, as viewers know, rocked up in the eponymous village earlier this year and it didn’t take fans long to work out that she was harbouring a big secret . After landing a job as the GP’s receptionist, Ella became popular with the locals, with Mandy Dingle ( Lisa Riley ) striking up a friendship with the newcomer while Liam Cavanagh ( Jonny McPherson ) embarked on a relationship with her.
But the life that Ella built for herself in the village was soon dismantled after her tragic past was exposed by Leyla Harding ( Roxy Shahidi ). When she was just a child, Ella killed her best friend Joanne and subsequently went to prison for it. The news came as a shock to everyone, with a number of villagers disowning her – except Cain Dingle ( Jeff Hordley ), who sympathised with her situation given that his own son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) went through a similar experience when he killed Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).
Ella was run out of town by Liam, who took news of her past particularly hard given that he himself lost a child in Leanna (Mimi Slinger), who was murdered by Meena Jutla ( Paige Sandhu ).
