The Supreme Court (SC) had to stop a really unfair decision made by a High Court (HC) in an important case. Sadly, unfair decisions like this happen too often. Two men offered a ride to a young girl to take her home.
But instead of helping her, they stopped their bike, started touching her inappropriately, and even tried to pull her under a bridge. Luckily, she screamed, and some people came to help, so the men ran away. Even after all this, the High Court shockingly said that this was not an “attempt to rape.
” The court even made up a strange rule, saying that trying to commit a crime isn’t serious unless the person is fully determined. This kind of thinking could make it harder to punish criminals in the future. Thankfully, the Supreme Court stepped in and said that the High Court’s decision made no sense and was completely insensitive.
But this isn’t the first time this has happened. Many courts have shown old-fashioned and unfair attitudes toward women. For example, in some cases, judges have suggested that a woman should marry the man who assaulted her! Courts also allow questions about a woman’s past relationships, as if that matters when she is attacked.
