ATTLEBORO — A series of paintings by Anatoly Dverin, who hails from Ukraine, is on exhibit through Sept. 27 at the arts Museum on Park Street. “Dverin is known for his Impressionist style landscapes and portraiture that showcase his mastery of composition and playfulness with color and light,” Attleboro Arts Museum’s Executive Director and Chief Curator Mim Brooks Fawcett said in an email.
“In this exhibition, viewers will experience a curated selection of Dverin’s landscapes that were created during the 1960s in Ukraine.” Dverin spent a great deal of time walking through the countryside of Ukraine passing rivers, mountains and fields with easel and paints in hand, always searching for a scene that spoke to him. When that moment arrived, he would set up his easel and begin to paint.
These 10 works on display, although created over 60 years ago, still hold the beauty of the Eastern European landscape as well as the powerful memory of this artist’s journey and lifelong pursuit of painting the beauty in nature. Dverin was born in Ukraine and emigrated to the United States in 1976. He was educated at Leningrad’s Munchin Art Institute and Institute of Fine Art, Ukraine.
As a child, Anatoly attended a banquet at the Kremlin in Russia in association with the National Children’s Art Exhibition. He has been an illustrator for Rust Craft Greeting Cards Co., in Brookline, and he founded an illustration company, Anatoly Illustration, which he transitioned to his fine .
