This is a form of Japanese landscaping, and has been described as a quasi-indoor garden style. It is a notable feature in some traditional Japanese homes. The application for Laceby Manor states size-controlled white himalayan birch will feature.

The pool room will be on the building's first floor. The second floor extension above it will act as a wellbeing activity space. "The extension to the spa & gym building will in its own way economically strengthen the business and ensures its growth and longevity in the community," state Keir Architecture Ltd on behalf of the applicant.

Tree planting is asserted as "a big plus" of the scheme. In an unusual situation for an extension, there would be more greenery if it is approved than there is now. The proposed area it would be built on, to the north-east.
