Amazon Prime Video's upcoming series The Assassin has welcomed new cast members, Baby Reindeer's Shalom Brune-Franklin and Game of Thrones star Richard Dormer. The series is currently being filmed in Greece. The show is a creation of screenwriters Harry and Jack Williams, known for their black-comedy crime thriller Boat Story, which drew comparisons to the Coen brothers' work.

The Assassin is a joint venture between Two Brothers Pictures, ZDF, All3Media International, and Stan. The six-part series features Keeley Hawes, known for her role in Bodyguard, as Julie, a retired hitwoman living a peaceful life on a secluded Mediterranean island. However, her tranquillity is shattered when her estranged son (played by The Good Doctor's Freddie Highmore) arrives from England.

"Armed with questions around new information on his paternity, Edward battles to find the right time to speak to his frustratingly distant mother. But, when the moment finally presents itself, things take a deadly turn as Julie's dangerous past catches up with her and they are forced to flee the island and go on the run together," reveals the synopsis.
