This Sunday night they’ll go head-to-head in their quest to claim that coveted Gold Logie. But for the time being it’s all smiles for Seven stars — and long-time friends — Larry Emdur and Sonia Kruger ahead of their showdown at the 64th TV Week Logie Awards. Kruger is being nominated for her work across Big Brother, Dancing with the Stars, The Voice and Logies Red Carpet, while Emdur is up for The Chase Australia and The Morning Show.

Improbably, it is Emdur’s first nomination for Gold amid a career that started in the late 1980s. “Sonia is a prime-time rockstar, she is a long-time dear friend but I’m not sure our decades-old friendship will survive this weekend,” he joked to The Sunday Times. “I really hope Sonia wins again so she can make her two Gold Logies into a set of earrings.

And we’re all desperate to hear her next speech! “Sonia is the best prime show host on Australian TV. When I grow up, I want to be Sonia Kruger.” Kruger said it was “crazy to me” Emdur was only up for his first nomination.
