As fans around the globe mourn the anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, one expert has moved to debunk the "gruesome" myths the surround his demise. The King of Rock n Roll died on August 16, 1977, with his passing sending shockwaves throughout the music industry at the time. The Suspicious Minds singer was aged just 42 when he died at his Memphis home, Graceland .

Now, an author who has studied the icon's life is on a mission to rid the world of a number of myths surrounding his death. Sally A Hoedel, author of Destined to Die Young, carried out extensive research in a bid to get to the bottom of Elvis' demise and is now trying to halt all the "sensationalised" stories that linger. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror , Sally was quick to reveal that anyone waiting for his autopsy results to "released" in three years time will be severely disappointed.

She says that it's not because they won't be released, but in fact they are already public knowledge. She told us: "The myth of the autopsy report being released in 2027 continues to plague him. First, it suggests some smoking gun, which is just not the case.

Second, it is a private family document and they will not be required to release it upon the 50th anniversary of his death. I believe this rumour began just over pure confusion. "According to Tennessee State Law, it is the death certificate that will be made public in 2027, not the autopsy report.

The autopsy report and its contents are very much public already...
