Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) is one of just three hospital trusts to make the list, out of more than 800 employer entries. CUH, which was ranked 83rd in the list, signed up more than 274 apprentices between April 2023 and March 31 this year. The apprentices studied 44 different subjects, including nursing, allied healthcare professions, healthcare sciences, estates and facilities, finance, customer service, business administration and digital marketing.

To celebrate the listing, a CUH representative has been invited to a lunch at the House of Commons in September, hosted by minister for skills, apprenticeships and higher education Baroness Jacqui Smith. The event aims to celebrate the achievements of the top 100, and allow those listed to network with other winners and meet members of the Apprenticeships Directorate at the Department for Education.

CUH work opportunities manager, Kate Greenwood, said: "This is an incredible achievement for the trust, which has worked so hard to create opportunities for apprentices and the chance to earn while they learn new skills. "We are very proud of the achievement, and firm believers in the importance of recruiting, developing, and retaining our own talented people." Education secretary, Bridget Phillipson.
