Pune: The Cantonment police on Monday arrested three men on the charge of ransacking the New York Wine shop with sharp weapons in New Modikhana around 8.30pm on Sunday. The vandals , identified as Sohail Khan (26), Sahil Sayyed (26), and Nizam Shaikh (25), all from Bhavani Peth, were taken into custody after their identities were established from the CCTV footage of the shop.

The wine shop owner, Anand Jaware (50), in his complaint, said he was running the shop when three men vandalized the glass counter and advertisement board and ran. A police officer, requesting anonymity, said initially they suspected that the incident may have happened either over a money dispute or not offering liquor to the suspects free of cost because Jaware did not share details on why his shop was vandalized. The officer said after they established the identity of the trio and took them into custody, they told police that they had vandalized the shop because its owners had shooed them away while they were chatting outside.

TOI attempted to contact Jaware for comment, but his cellphone was switched off till the time of going to press.
