Wednesday, August 14, 2024 In an initiative led by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to elevate the travel experience, the Maldives’ Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Shamaan Waheed, has declared that starting August 15, 2024, outbound travelers from the Maldives will be exempt from filling out the ‘Traveller Declaration’ form. This move, detailed in circular 94-CBS/CIR/2024/4, is part of the government’s strategy to enhance travel fluidity by eliminating this bureaucratic requirement, thereby reducing the time needed for departure preparations and enhancing the convenience of travel for all passengers.

This adjustment is expected to especially assist frequent travelers and business professionals by streamlining their airport procedures. While the requirement for the ‘Traveller Declaration’ form is being discontinued for those departing the Maldives, it remains mandatory for all incoming travelers to submit this form 96 hours prior to their arrival. All essential security and immigration screenings will continue to be enforced to maintain a safe travel environment.

This policy update further cements the Maldives’ status as a top-tier travel destination celebrated for its exceptional hospitality and streamlined travel processes..
