A new menu has been launched by a train operator. TransPennine Express has introduced new options for its West Coast Kitchen, including chicken stuffed with haggis, sausage and mash, and a vegan nut roast. This marks the second change in food and drink selections since the launch of West Coast Kitchen earlier this year.

Other options include a dish of whole grains, beans, and vegetables, as well as lighter breakfast options like traditional crumpets and spiced fruit teacakes. Sausage rolls, baked by Pie Demand at Carlisle station, are a popular choice, with a vegan version available for those who prefer it. Farrer’s, the company that provides tea and coffee onboard, also makes the hot chocolate, which is designed to warm customers up during their journey.

West Coast Kitchen is available for first-class customers travelling between Manchester or Liverpool and Edinburgh or Glasgow along the west coast. The Express Plus menu can be found on the rest of TransPennine Express's services. The train operator also launched its own beer earlier this year in collaboration with Leeds-based brewery Northern Monk.

The beer, called TransPennine Pale, is a 4.1 per cent session IPA, described as 'crisp and refreshing', and is available in first class every day after 11am. Kathryn O'Brien, customer experience and transformation director at TransPennine Express, said: "We hope our customers enjoy our new menu, which offers hearty winter warmers and nourishing dishes for the cold winter months.
