Toyota awards Land Cruiser Prado to Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo

LEADING mobility company Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has honored Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo with a brand-new Land Cruiser Prado in recognition of his historic achievement at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Yulo secured two gold medals, making him the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to win multiple golds in Olympic artistic gymnastics.The luxury SUV was ceremonially presented to Yulo at a special event held at TMP's manufacturing plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The turnover, witnessed by hundreds of team members, was led by president Masando Hashimoto and Vice Chairman Dr. David Go. Representatives from TMP's top management and labor union were also present.This incentive was announced earlier by TMP as part of its commitment to support Filipino athletes who bring pride to the nation. "Thank you, Caloy, for being an inspiration. Like the Prado, you are legendary in every way. We hope the Prado will 'Move Your World' and help you achieve even more," TMP President Masando Hashimoto said during his speech at the ceremony.Aside from receiving his new vehicle, Yulo was given a tour of the TMP manufacturing plant, where he saw firsthand how Filipino workers assemble Toyota models such as the Vios, Innova, and the soon-to-be-launched Tamaraw.Yulo's Olympic gold medals were won in the men's individual vault and men's floor exercise, cementing his legacy in the world of gymnastics. Hashimoto also conveyed that Toyota Motor Corp. (TMC) Chairman Akio Toyoda is "very proud of him and all the athletes who pushed themselves to achieve the impossible."Yulo expressed his gratitude during his acceptance speech, stating, "I know this gift isn't just about me. It's about this community that has been cheering me on. Toyota, I am so grateful to be a part of your team, this leading brand, this community, and I hope that this gift will inspire others to also chase their own dreams and never give up."Beyond his success at the Olympics, Yulo returned to Paris to support Filipino athletes competing in the Paralympic Games. He also engaged in discussions on how to give back to the communities that have shaped him as an athlete.Yulo will be driving a 2025 Land Cruiser Prado, equipped with a 2.4-liter turbo engine and automatic transmission. He personally chose the White Pearl Mica color for his new vehicle, a symbol of both his journey and the community behind his success.
