The Brunel pub, on New Road in Chippenham, reopened on Friday, August 2, after a month of renovations. In June the previous management team left the venue and shortly after a deal was agreed for Lorna Noble, who runs the nearby Black Horse and The Pig and Whistle in Melksham, to take over. The former Stonegate pub is now part of Noble Pub Group Ltd.

Ms Noble is working alongside new manager Diane Rees, and the pair have given the pub a fresh look. They hope this revamp will bring “new life” to the prominent venue. “It’s bringing in a diverse range of people already which is good and there’s a really nice feel to the place again. “We’ve worked extremely hard to get it up and running again, it’s important to keep this beautiful building alive and involve the community in many different ways.” The pub was packed with customers during a reopening weekend that saw an array of live music.

Ms Rees said: “We had a lot of people coming through the door, a lot of new faces and a lot of old faces.” “It was a really good weekend and a great atmosphere”, added Ms Noble. “We had a live band and DJs and have got a lot of events planned as well.

” The ongoing changes include the opening of the pub’s new cocktai.
