Jaipur: Before Covid, foreign tourists used to be the stars for Rajasthan’s tourism department . But the shine faded after Covid was over. The department is now trying to revive the segment by stepping up global publicity and networking in major source countries like France, Spain, Japan and the UK.

This time, the tourism department has facilitated participation of the private sector for better engagement with the overseas stakeholders. The state tourism department participated in International and French Travel Market ‘Top Resa’ in Paris last week, sharing booth space with Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR). The department will participate in JATA tourism expo in Japan to be held from Sept 26 to Sept 29.

World Travel Mart London, slated for Nov, and Fitur Madrid 2025, from Jan 22 to Jan 26, 2025, are other popular shows for the industry where the department is going to participate. “A unified strategy is always better as it acts as a force multiplier. The tourism department is reaching out to all stakeholders to make the most out of these exhibitions that hold the key to attracting foreign tourists,” said FHTR president Kuldeep Singh Chandela.

“We are happy to join the department as we did in the Top Resa show in Paris. Foreign tourist arrivals are starting to look up. With the combined effort, the numbers will grow further,” added Chandela.
