Mocha, a mare in her late 20s who had been in declining condition, was euthanized humanely Tuesday, according to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund’s Facebook page. Contractors working on a house reported they had seen Mocha down nearby. After horse fund personnel determined she could not get back up, a vet was called and she was euthanized, according to the post.

“She died peacefully and quietly, and was laid to rest in a safe, secluded spot in the place that had been her home for her entire life,” the post read. “This is what we hope for every wild horse [..
