The actor, 62, who will return to screens as agent Ethan Hunt next year, clung on to the underside of a yellow Stearman biplane as it flew over Oxfordshire. He was joined on set by Esai Morales, who plays mysterious terrorist Gabriel in the franchise, as they appeared to grapple in the sky.

Esai was seen in the backseat of the plane, with Tom later left hanging onto the side after the aircraft flipped upside down. Tom, who has had his pilot licence since 1994 and owns several aircrafts, was flown by a crew member, wearing all green, suggesting the pilot will be removed from the scene during editing.
