Togo’s ASKY has received its fourth Boeing 737 Max while retiring its very first aircraft, an 18-year-old Boeing 737 NG. The new aircraft joins ASKY’s fleet as part of the company’s long-term fleet growth and revitalization plan. Out with the old, in with the new ASKY ’s new 737 MAX 8, registration ET-BAT, arrived at the carrier’s base in Lomé, Togo, on October 1, 2024, after a five-hour ferry flight from Addis Ababa.

According to ch-aviation , the aircraft is 4.66 years old, having taken its first flight in February 2020. It will be the Togolese carrier’s fourth 737 MAX, a type it has been operating for just over a year .

ET-BAT will replace ET-ANG, an 18-year-old 737-700, which has served in ASKY’s fleet for nearly 15 years. It was the airline’s very first aircraft and has played a pivotal role in supporting ASKY’s mission to connect West Africa. Since January 2010, it has accumulated approximately 26,747 flight hours across 19,286 cycles.

Commenting on ET-ANG, the airline said in a statement, "ET-ANG symbolized the beginning of a bold and ambitious adventure – the creation of a Pan-African airline dedicated to regional integration and air connectivity. Over the past 14 years, this aircraft has carried millions of passengers across the African skies, helping establish ASKY’s reputation for reliability and safety." As the 737-700 departs the fleet, ASKY will move forward with its commitment to modernizing its fleet and enhancing service levels.
