Vadodara: Early on Tuesday morning, a Karelibaug resident was startled by a clattering noise in another room. Believing it to be a rat, Razak Gohil picked up a stick and went into the room. He moved a table only to get the shock of his life — a baby crocodile staring back at him with its mouth agape.

Gohil and his family members left the house and closed the doors. He then called Gujarat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) volunteers, who rushed to the spot. What surprised the volunteers was that the reptile had sneaked in through the main door and crawled past the living room in the night.

“None of them noticed the crocodile, which then parked itself in the adjacent room. It must have crawled out of the Vishwamitri to migrate to another water body,” said Raj Bhavsar of the GSPCA.
