"Years later, one of the guests on my prime-time TV show, Cher, was Tina Turner, a breathtaking performer who appeared with her then-husband Ike," Cher recalled.

"Before we went on she came to my room asking if I had some cover-up. She had a bruise on her arm she didn't want (it) showing on camera. "She sat down while I looked for it and then quietly said, very straightforward, 'Tell me how you left him.

" Cher and husband Sonny Bono parted ways in 1975 after a decade of marriage fraught with tension. Cher also recalled that her final visit with Turner at her home in Switzerland was marked by laughter. "I got to see her.

She was lying on the chaise and said, 'I'm tired,'" she said. "Then for two hours we were running around the house, and she was laughing hysterically. She just needed to talk and yell.

That's the Tina that I loved. We had the best time and talked about the old times." Turner won a total of 12 Grammy Awards, including three Grammy Hall of Fame awards and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
