Speaking to Stellar Magazine , the 56-year-old Australian singer said a kidney infection, which caused her excruciating pain, may have been a 'manifestation of trauma.' The Chains hitmaker suggested that the interminable lockdowns instituted by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews may have contributed to her illness.
'I got very sick last year [with a kidney infection] and ended up in hospital, had to cancel a tour,' she said. 'I really do believe that's a manifestation of the trauma that happened in 2020, 2021 and 2022.' Andrews, who resigned in September 2023, divided opinions by installing six lockdowns coming to a total of 262 days since March 2020.
The Sorrento Moon singer said her process of recovery is gradual, but she has plenty of support. 'I've had to slowly work my way through it with the love of my friends and family. It's not over,' she added.
