Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is a Diet Mountain Dew-loving, turkey-hunting, dog-rescuing, Midwestern guy — who also might be the next vice president of the United States. On Tuesday, Kamala Harris announced that she has selected Walz as her running mate on the 2024 Democratic ticket. While examples of Walz’s quirky Minnesota charm have gone viral on social media in recent weeks, he’s still largely unknown — with early polls showing that over 60 percent of the country doesn’t know enough about him to form an opinion.
The governor is introducing himself to voters as a candidate through an ad showcasing his small-town roots and political philosophy. “Sometimes life is as much about the lessons you learn as the lessons you teach,” Walz narrates in a nod to his more than two decades working as a high school teacher and football coach. “When I grew up, community was a way of life [.
