“Everyone here has done bad things” and someone wants them all gone. The upcoming Marvel offering Thunderbolts*, set to release on May 2, 2025, dropped its first trailer on Monday, thereby taking social media by storm. It follows an ensemble of reformed supervillains, a gang of Marvel misfits, including people who’ve been accused of contact killings, robbing government labs, being shadow ops, and more; put in a team to go on a deadly mission.

The trailer begins with Florence Pugh’s Black Widow Yelena meeting her father Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour) to express her discontent over living a sad life. “There is something wrong with me. An emptiness.

I’m just drifting. And I don’t have a purpose. I thought throwing myself into work was the answer,” she says before the action ensues in the three-minute trailer.

We see the return of the Winter Soldier Bucky (Sebastian Stan) involved in a high-octane stunt sequence, and Yelena isn’t behind. If you think there are good guys and bad guys in the world, this Marvel lot is the worst of them all. Hence, it’s no surprise that it didn’t take long for the trailer to generate a flurry of reactions online.
