A 34 year old man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after causing a collision that resulted in the deaths of three people, including a six year old boy, earlier this year. Joe-Lewis Tyler, of no fixed abode, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday afternoon (August 5) for his sentencing. He had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of causing death by dangerous driving, three counts of causing death whilst driving without insurance and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

In addition to his prison sentence, Tyler was disqualified from driving for 17 years and given a two-year sentence for causing serious injury by dangerous driving and a six-month sentence for three counts of no insurance, all to run concurrently. The fatal incident occurred in February when Leo Painter, aged six, Courtney Hemming, 26, and Claire Adkins, 39, were killed after their vehicle was hit by Tyler's car on the A44 Spetchley Road in Worcester. West Mercia Police's investigation revealed that Tyler had spent the afternoon drinking before driving at speeds over 90mph on a road with a 50mph speed limit.
