Pune: Three people from Thergaon were arrested on Friday on the charge of robbing valuables worth Rs2.39 lakh from a techie (37) at Dange Chowk around 1.30am on Wednesday, after kicking and punching him.

Assistant inspector Shweta Ghorpade of the Wakad police said, “We have arrested Kedar Nalawade (26), Bapu Dange (30) and Yash Mane (22). All of them work with different private firms in Pimpri Chinchwad.” She said, “The three men and their friends were travelling in a car towards Ravet from Dange Chowk.

The techie, from Ravet, was also travelling in his car in the same direction.” Ghorpade said, “Both the cars brushed against each other, following which the trio started arguing with the techie. Following the argument, the three men kicked and punched the techie.

Then they robbed his gold chain, cellphone and Rs14,000, collectively worth Rs2.39 lakh.” She said, “The suspects sped away after robbing the techie.

The victim had noted down the registration number of the car belonging to one of the three men. Based on that, we arrested them on Friday.” Ghorpade said, “Our records showed that the trio were never arrested or booked.
