In a major breakthrough in tracking down NDPS drug racket, H-NEW personnel and Bowenpally police arrested three persons and seized 8.5 kg of Amphetamine NDPS drug and other material worth Rs 8.5 crore.

They loaded the contraband in a car and were coming towards the city Sunday evening when cops intercepted their vehicle dairy farm road near pillar number 44. The prime accused Kunchala Nagaraju alias Nagraj (34) presently residing in Gummadidala village of Sangareddy district is a native of Prakasam district. His associates Ashagouni Vinod Kumar Goud (42) and Kunti Srishailam (35) both from Dundigal came together to sell amphetamine to consumers in the twin cities.

They were arrested when carrying the contraband in a car (AP 28 DG 4545), said the city police commissioner Kothakota Srineevasa Reddy at a press conference here on Monday. The vehicle along with the banned substance and three mobile phones were seized, all valued at Rs8.5 crore, he said.

The drug manufacturer was identified as Gosukonda Anji Reddy, a resident of Gummadidala, Sangareddy district. He was recently arrested by Gummadidala police and is in judicial custody. During questioning, Nagaraju confessed that he came in contact with businessman Gosukonda Anji Reddy, who was involved in manufacturing NDPS drugs in his factories and godowns, the commissioner said.
