Thousands of people are calling for speed bumps to be installed at an accident black spot. Holly Foster-Carter, from Eastbourne, launched a petition to get the traffic calming measure introduced in Beachy Head Road, which goes from the seaside town to Birling Gap. Since the petition was launched last month more than 13,000 people have joined her campaign and signed it.

Ms Foster Carter said: "I, like many in Eastbourne have witnessed the devastating consequences of a high-speed accident on Beachy Head Road. "The terrible incident I experienced involved a motorcyclist losing control of their bike, a mishap that sadly led to their loss of life. "This terrible event sheds light on the broader safety issue in our area.

Beachy Head Road, especially around the S bend, has become a hot spot for accidents due to the excessive speeding and anti-social driving. "Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. The excessive speed of vehicles, coupled with the challenging nature of the S bend, has led to numerous accidents over the last few months.

Anyone could be the next victim - a motorcyclist, a pedestrian, a resident, a visitor, or even a young child."
