Winter is upon us and lucky for all those craving a snowy getaway, Expedia revealed the top trending destinations to enjoy the chilly season this year. Sunny retreats, natural wonders, and charming small towns peppered the list, and one Alberta spot was a favourite among Americans. On the Trending Canadian Destinations for Americans list by Expedia, Canmore came in second place.
"Many Canadian destinations have seen a search increase among American travellers this winter season. Vancouver, which is set to host the final leg of the Era’s tour, has seen a 113 per cent surge in searches from a U.S.
origin. Other notable destinations on American radar include Québec City (65 per cent), Banff (60 per cent), Montreal (34 per cent), and Canmore (104 per cent), which was recently named as one of Expedia’s Detour Destinations for 2025," the ranking said. It's no surprise why our neighbours across the border want to visit the dreamy small town.
Although not as hyped up as Banff, Canmore offers the classic mountain views most are hoping for. The little town actually doubles as Jackson, Wyoming in the popular HBO show, The Last Of Us , thanks to its stunning scenery. It's nestled in the Rocky Mountains and famed for the view of the Three Sisters mountain range.
Although it's a small community it has streets lined with lots of cute shops and cafes that you can stop in at. It's also just an hour outside of Calgary, so you can get a little city life sprinkled into a trip here..
