This Morning fans were less than impressed with a term used by a TV doctor to describe the female reproductive system. Outraged viewers had tuned in for Tuesday's digest and were listening to Dr Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed who was talking about how to improve your gut health. The foodologist explained that humans were colonised by bugs from the moment they were born but instead of putting it lightly, she had another expression for birth that wasn't to everyone's taste.

She explained: "With loads and loads of gut bugs inside you, and they've formed inside of you as soon as you were born and shot out of your mother's canal, we started getting colonised by bugs." The camera turned to host Josie, who appeared to be struggling not to bare a grin as the doctor in food carried on. The good gut health expert added: "And they help you in lots of ways, they help you digest your food.

"If you have a good collection of diverse bugs inside of you, they will protect yourself from heart disease, diabetes and even your mood can be protected from depression etc." "So they are a wonder, gut bugs are a wonder," insisted Dr Saliha. Despite the interest and fascination in the topic of gut bugs, fans proved to be more distracted by the use of the term "Mother's canal" and took to social media to groan.

Annoyed users penned on X - formerly Twitter , "Shot out your mother's canals, controversial.. #ThisMorning," said one person as another added: "I really don't want to think about being shot out my mothers.
