Meet, Madhav Sahasrabudhe , who was working as a mechanical engineer in Belgaum some years ago before he started working with the Charkha back in the year 2008. One day, in the evening when it was the time of gram sabha, Madhav saw an old man of 90 years of age spinning a box charkha. This ignited a fire in his mind and took him into the world of learning the craft.
Sahasrabudhe's involvement with the world of social workers and activists has greatly influenced his mindset. Even though he used to take home a huge cheque at his senior position, he was becoming increasingly aware of exploitation at the workplace, especially in corporate setups. Now the stark contrast set within his work environment and simple spinning of yarn made him wonder who actually benefited from his time, effort, and expertise.
He retired at the age of 50, after this enlightenment and directed all his energy towards spreading Charkha spinning , through various exhibits and workshops.
