Linen and waistcoats are two huge fashion trends this summer, especially when worn together, and there are a huge number of two-piece co-ords on the high street at the moment. I've tried plenty – and this one from Marks & Spencer is the best I've found. I bought the M&S Linen Rich Tailored Waistcoat, £35, and matching Linen Rich Pleated Wide Leg Trousers, £39.

50 , about a month ago, and I've got so much wear out of them already. I've worn this outfit on long days at work featuring stiflingly hot commutes, out in the evening for drinks, and even on holiday, and it's been a comfortable, practical – and, I think, stylish – choice for all of these occasions. Linen Rich Tailored Waistcoat, £35, from Marks & Spencer Linen Rich Pleated Wide Leg Trousers, £39.

50 from Marks & Spencer Pros Flattering cut Cool to wear in hot weather Can be dressed up or down Cons One of my trouser hems came down after a few wears No stretch in the trousers' waistband Both made from a linen/viscose blend fabric, the waistcoat is smart and slightly cropped ; I don't usually like tops that are cropped but I found that this ends at the perfect length when worn with high-waisted trousers, creating a flattering silhouette. It's roomy and comfy, and it allows you to still wear a bra underneath if you like. I took my normal size for a slightly looser fit, but if you want it to sit closer to the body, I'd advise going down a size.

It's available in black and grey (which I'm also very tempted to get). A.
