viewers were shocked on Sunday night after revealed who she had chosen as her wildcard. The singer was tasked with inviting a contestant back into the competition after Matthew Hearne from her team previously announced that he'd been offered a role in a stage show and would not be taking part in the knockouts. This meant that Kate only had instead of seven, leaving her with the option to invite one artist from any team who was not chosen to proceed in the to fill the seventh (and last) spot in her group.

Many fans expressed hope that Kate would bring back 24-year-old Falon Moore from WA after she lost her battle against 21-year-old Nethra Raman from NSW, while others felt that Mary-Jean - who had lost to Matthew - should be the one to return. However, in a shock twist, neither Falon nor Mary-Jean were invited back. "I chose an artist who brought the house down," Kate explained.

"This artist was a total fan favourite. They're a born performer." She then revealed it was Tom Leeming from Adam Lambert's team who she had chosen to bring back and who would be facing off against real-life couple Michael and Violeta in the knockout.

Tom went on to win the knockout round against the duo and was then put about against Jaedyn and Jaymee in the showdown. Tom's performance of 'Another Love' by Tom Odell was a massive hit with both the audience and coaches, cementing his place in the semi-finals alongside Jaedyn, with Jaymee being sent home. The move was met with strong reactions from view.
