British WBA lightweight world champion Nick Ball (21-0-1, 12 KOs) defeated multiple contender Ronnie Rios (34-5, 17 KOs) in a spectacular fashion. The 12-round fight at the boxing night of Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions in Liverpool (England) ended early. From the first minutes of the fight, Ball seized the initiative in the ring, outboxing the challenger in all components.
In the 2nd three minutes, the British fighter managed to carry out an accurate attack, after which the American fell into the first knockdown. Rios was able to continue the fight and recovered by the 5th round. As soon as Ball reduced the intensity of his attacks, the advantage immediately went to the US representative.
However, there was no breakthrough in the fight. The denouement came in the 10th round, when the champion took his opponent near the ropes and began to simply knead him with powerful punches. After one of these slams, Rios fell over the ropes, and the referee stopped the fight.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, in July this year, the Ukrainian-born boxer won a brutal knockout by hanging his opponent on the ropes. The 6-round fight at a boxing show in Tirana, Albania, ended early.
