Each week, we quiz a prominent person about their style and the inspiration behind it. Ahead, fashion designer Erin Deering. Erin Deering says her favourite fashion era is Sienna Miller in the early-2000s.
How would you describe your personal style? I switch between bold, with clashing textures and colours to create something playful and unexpected, and a pared-back look, depending on my mood. What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe? A pair of vintage Levi’s I’ve had for maybe 10 years. I’m not a hoarder, I like to keep my wardrobe fresh, but there are some regrets, like the fluffy cream Celine coat I sold.
I think about it often. And the most recent addition? I bought a black David Koma dress for my husband’s 40th. It was a big purchase but I’ll wear it again and again.
What are the three essential items in your wardrobe? A perfectly fitting tee, a black Beare Park blazer and a fun, mid-height shoe such as Totême’s silver kitten heel. Totême’s silver kitten heel is a style staple in Erin Deering’s wardrobe. What would you wear .
.. on a first date? Levi’s, a Deering white tee and a Saint Laurent blazer with some fun sunglasses and a strong earring .
.. on a plane? A loose tailored pant, tank top and cashmere sweater with a sneaker or loafer.
Tight clothes on planes should be illegal ...
on the red carpet? I despise event dressing but anything by Schiaparelli will more than suffice. What’s your favourite fashion era? The Sienna Miller early-2000s era..
