" It's debatable but he's probably cycling. Queen Street has its problems and any Cardiff local will tell you that unprompted; rule-breaking cyclists are arguably the least of them. But this street has been named by American Express as the very best - after a study factoring in its variety of shops, transport links and proximity to landmarks and indoor shopping centres.

When we took a trip to Queen Street to get retailers' and shoppers' view, we were met with a few raised eyebrows and a lot of laughter. He chuckles when I say Queen Street is the best in the UK, adding: "I mean, yeah, it's nice," - then he laughs again - "it's quite surprising that it's the best in the UK.

" The location, he says, is key (and this is something American Express used to judge it). "We get a lot of international students and people visiting from other countries or other cities. On a nice day you’ve got Bute Park, the castle.
