Gemma Whelan has teased ITV crime drama The Tower 's future ahead of series three launching. It was announced earlier this year that the gripping crime thriller, which features Game of Thrones star, Gemma, 43, was returning for a third season . After two hugely successful series, The Tower is returning to the channel and will see the actress, who played Yara Greyjoy in the HBO smash-hit, reprising her role DS Sarah Collins .

Fans haven’t seen Sarah since 2023, when series two of the gritty cop drama pulled her into a shocking cold case, where she once again had to deal with PC Lizzie Adama, played by Tahirah Sharif, whose preference for protocol was seriously tested. The third series of The Tower will see DS Sarah being called to investigate the stabbing of a teenage boy. The upcoming series is entitled The Tower 3: Gallowstree Lane, it is based on author Kate London’s third novel, and is adapted by screenwriter Patrick Harbinson (Homeland, Fearless, 24).

And despite series three yet to air, Gemma has already addressed a potential series four and if she would reprise her role as Sarah for the foreseeable. Speaking to press, including The Mirror recently, the actress had a two-word response over returning as Sarah for series four if asked as she excitedly exclaimed: "Yes please!", adding: "I think everyone's so keen, we're all so keen, I'm trying to send all the thoughts to ITV and all the people to tune in."
