It was announced earlier this week that the story of John F. Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy would be getting the Ryan Murphy treatment, as part of his “American Story” franchise. First there was the fictionalised American Horror Story series, then American Crime Story , which focus on the likes of OJ Simpson and Jeffrey Dahmer, then American Sports Story, and now comes an all American Love Story.
It’s not known when the series will go ahead, merely that the producers are very keen to cover the relationship of JFK Jr and his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. “We’re very much intending to [tell that story],” producer Nina Jacobson told Variety. Brad Simpson, another of the series’ producers, agreed.
“We have great scripts on that. We’re trying to figure out when it’ll land. It is a story that really resonates right now.
It’s amazing. A lot of younger women are looking to her as sort of a representational icon of a certain period of time that’s really fascinating, and hopefully, we’ll be able to bring that to the screen soon.” But what was the true story of JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and why was it so compelling?
