Read the name Bosham and you would surely pronounce it 'bosh-ham'. But the quaint town - packed with waterways and peninsulas - is actually pronounced quite differently. Being in Chichester Harbour it is synonymous with water. It has mudflats, and salt marshes with the harbour being popular for sailing, birdwatching, and walking, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. Bosham Quay in the harbour is so beautiful it is recognised as a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

In terms of history, the village is part of the legend of King Canute. The Viking king of England supposedly commanded the tide to halt at Bosham to demonstrate the limits of his power. The legend has it that the tides did not obey him.
