The Good Food Guide has today announced its Top 50 Best Sunday Roasts in Britain with six London pubs appearing on the list. The half dozen gastropubs fought off stiff competition to make it to the shortlist, with two emerging as winners in subcategories. The Blacklock in Canary Wharf won an award for Best Sunday Roast for Group Dining, while the Lagom at Hackney Church Brew Company, in Hackney, won the Best Value Sunday Roast prize.

The other four London pubs recognised for their quality roasts are The Canton Arms in Stockwell, The Devonshire in Soho , The Holland in Kensington and The Red Lion & Sun in Highgate Village. The Abbey Inn, in Byland, North Yorkshire, was named as the overall UK winner of the Best Sunday Roast 2024. The guide’s search for the Best Sunday Roast, sponsored by Koffmann’s Potatoes and Tracklements, aims to champion restaurants, pubs and cafes that are the backbone of the British dining scene.

A Sunday roast is also said to be Britain’s favourite meal with 75 per cent of Good Food Guide readers saying a roast is their perfect dinner, synonymous with tradition and family gatherings and offered everywhere from simple neighbourhood cafes to grand hotel dining rooms.
