Haener entered the game for the Saints with 4:50 to go in the third quarter and was able to facilitate a scoring drive that resulted in a 43-yard field goal by Blake Grupe to cut the Chargers lead to 16-8. The Saints offense gained 45 yards on the drive with Haener, a second-year player out of Fresno State, after struggling for much of the day with Rattler under center.
