Vikrant Massey, who is currently busy in the promotions of The Sabarmati Report , recently opened up about facing criticism for his religious practices. He also shared about the multi-faith traditions of his family. Talking about his family, Vikrant ’s father is a devout Christian, his mother a Sikh, his wife, actor Sheetal Thakur, is Hindu, and his brother Moeen converted to Islam at 17.

The 12th Fail star shared that his family members celebrate all faiths with equal respect. Recently, Vikrant was trolled for sharing a picture of touching his wife Sheetal’s feet during Karwa Chauth. While many applauded him for his gesture, some netizens shared their issue with participating in Hindu rituals.

Responding to the backlash, Vikrant told Shubhankar Mishra, “My mother, born a Sikh, wore a bindi and stood beside us during Karwa Chauth. Since childhood, we’ve gone to temples, and Mata Rani pandals were a regular part of Navratri." Sharing his father’s routine of visiting the Vaishno Devi temple in Katra six times while remaining a committed Christian and visiting church twice a week, Vikrant said, “This is what India is about.

" “It’s part of our Hindustan, and yet people find it surprising. There’s a temple in my home, and my son’s name is Vardaan. This unity is the fabric of our nation," added the star.

“My brother does Laxmi puja on the occasion of Diwali. His conversion (to Islam) is his personal choice. But we celebrate Diwali and Holi together here.
