A beautiful Essex village has a close and peaceful community feel - and has three pubs but no shop - at least not in the centre of the village. Despite its lack of shop the village is not isolated from the rest of the county, allowing for travel into Essex's bigger towns and even London, making it a desirable commuter location. Feering is a parish located directly between Colchester and Witham.

It is a lovely village with all the benefits of a rural, yet strategic location, enabling easy travel to Colchester, Chelmsford and London as it is plonked right on the A12. Its ancient centre, located around All Saints Church, is listed in the Domesday Book although the village has grown considerably since its founding. Its land now includes the river Blackwater at the border with Kelvedon in the south to the A120 at the north of the village.

Feering has three thriving pubs, a country house hotel with gym and tennis centre, two churches and a primary school. Despite all of this, Feering still retains its local and friendly village feel and is missing some amenities that you would expect in a seemingly fully-equipped village with no food shop - although it's only a short drive to find one, as there.
