Thanks to its stunning landscape the Peak District is a popular walking spot for seasoned hikers and casual ramblers alike. Yet its popularity means certain locations can become crowded with visitors, especially during the summer months. Known for its scenic stepping stones, Dovedale is an particularly popular walking route.

But one user on Tik Tok has found an alternative, which is “a bit like Dovedale but a lot quieter.” Sam Culley shared a hike through Wolfscote Dale which offers similar scenery with “little waterfalls, great bridges and big peaks” along the way. In the video he recommends parking at the village of Hartington, around a 90 minute drive from Greater Manchester.

Then you stick to the trail, crossing another bridge and a field, before arriving at Wolfscote Dale. Located in the White Peak, it has an “awesome cave” which you can climb up to, although Sam warns it's slippery, but it’s worth it for the amazing views over the River Dove.

Then you can follow the track for a few miles, or stop along the way for a riverside picnic. Sam suggests heading to Dovedale as well for an even longer walk, or you can loop back to Hartington. One user commented on his video: “Ooo I.
