A limited-edition Porsche 40 Jahre 911 , one of only 1,963 models produced worldwide, is scheduled to go on auction today at AstaGuru’s ‘Classics of Motoring’ sale and could sell for anywhere between Rs 95 lakhs to Rs 1.15 crore. In 2003, Porsche introduced a limited-edition model – the 40 Jahre 911 (roughly translating to ‘40 Fast Years’) – to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its iconic 911 model.
The presented car is No. 392 of the 1,963 produced and, according to the auction house, is accident-free and in original condition. A collector’s dream “This vehicle stands out for being the only one of its kind in India, enhancing its exclusivity,” said Muzammil Kazi, vintage and classic car specialist, AstaGuru Auction House.
“Produced to commemorate 40 years of the iconic Porsche 911, this limited-edition model features distinctive elements that set it apart from standard versions. Its rarity, exceptional engineering, and rich heritage make it a prized collector’s item.” Kazi says India’s vintage car auction market is still niche but they have seen steadily increasing interest in the category.
“The allure of vintage cars lies in their timeless appeal. Many individuals have, at some point in their lives, dreamt of owning one. These cars carry a unique sense of history, craftsmanship, and novelty that sets them apart, making them highly desirable for collectors and enthusiasts alike,” he said.
