If you’re heading to Arizona, then you will want to visit all the iconic destinations - the Grand Canyon, the deserts and Saguaro National Park. However, there’s a little city tucked inside Arizona that was recently voted one of America's most hospitable, and is definitely worth a visit. According to research from Backyard Oasis , Gilbert in Arizona is the USA’s most hospitable city.

The experts evaluated cities across the US using factors such as the number of high-rated hotels, recreation scores, food and entertainment scores, safety, and overall affordability. Gilbert, located southeast of Phoenix, came out on top with an overall score of 99 out of 100. Gilbert is packed with picturesque parks, oodles of theatre and music and some great restaurants all perfect for a weekend of exploring.

One of these gorgeous parks is the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch - a haven for bird watchers and nature lovers alike. With over 200 species of bird calling this region home, you can wander through one of several trails that wind through varied habitats and keep an eye out for birds and animals flitting through the trees. You can even fish in the seven acre lake in the reserve, or if you want a later visit why not explore the observatory? After you’ve had your fill of nature, why not get some history? Downtown Gilbert is dubbed the Heritage District, and is jam packed not only with historic charm but plenty of unique shops, cars and eateries with something for everyone.
