Sunday, November 10, 2024 The Lumiart Light Festival has launched its 4th edition in Dubrovnik, transforming the UNESCO-listed Old City into a spectacular canvas of light, color, and innovative art. This three-day event, running until November 10, is a vibrant showcase of 3D mapping, interactive installations, and immersive art by European talents. Organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, the festival is a cornerstone of Dubrovnik’s vision to enhance its year-round tourism appeal, creating a unique cultural experience that draws both locals and tourists.
This year’s highlight, “Evolution of Light,” is a mesmerizing 3D mapping show by Croatian design collective Pixel Design, located at Sponza Palace. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, the installation traces the historical and cultural significance of light, engaging viewers in a journey from ancient firelight to modern-day digital illuminations. This captivating experience sets the tone for Lumiart’s theme of innovation and sustainability.
Mayor Mato Frankovic emphasized the festival’s role in promoting Dubrovnik’s cultural identity beyond the summer season. “Lumiart not only enhances our city’s appeal during the fall but also reflects our commitment to supporting the arts and creating a dynamic, cultural calendar that attracts visitors all year round,” Frankovic said. His remarks highlight the city’s efforts to position itself as a destination that blends historical charm with modern, cultural festivit.
