As the summer season is in full swing, we're all itching for a lovely getaway. But where to jet off to? Well, Europe's 'best city break' has been revealed and it's not your typical Barcelona or Cannes, according to CN Traveller . Kotor, a picturesque city nestled on Montenegro's Adriatic Coast, is just under three hours flight from London.

The closest airport is Tivat, and you can get there from Gatwick. There's a wealth of stunning sights to see while you're there, but a visit to the awe-inspiring Old City is a must. Founded by the Romans in the 10th century, Kotor was part of medieval Serbia from 1186 to 1371.

The local cuisine is also tantalisingly good, with many dishes influenced by Italy - which lies across the Adriatic Sea. Be sure to sample local delicacies such as njegusi prosciutto, or perhaps lamb in milk.

While the latter might not sound appealing initially, the lamb is slowly simmered in milk with potatoes, carrots, fennel, rosemary, garlic, parsley, and spices. In terms of dining spots, you can't go wrong with Resto Bar Taraca. It comes highly recommended with a five-star rating on Tripadvisor.
