Ever since a bone belonging to Amy Knightly (Bo Bragason), a girl who disappeared 17 years ago, was found in the fire, Ember has been trying to solve her murder. She initially suspected her late husband Mack (Tom Glynn-Carney) might have been involved in Amy's death, given their secret relationship prior to Amy's disappearance.

In episode three, Ember was arrested for perverting the course of justice after concealing this information from her colleagues. However, she was soon released on bail and resumed her investigation.
