The Old Station Nursery, based in Tressillian Road, was last inspected on August 7, 2024. The report was then published on September 12, 2024. It was rated as good in all areas: Quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.

This is a positive step up from its previous rating as requires improvement when the nursery was last inspected back in September 2023. In the report, inspectors recognised the hard work that has been done to improve the quality of learning and interactions between staff and children. The curriculum has been revised, introducing activities such as cooking and planting to help children build “essential skills for future education and life”.

Children showed inspectors that they are “motivated to explore and learn” and all children, including any identified to need extra support, were found to make “good progress”. Staff were reported to work “extremely well” with parents to meet children’s needs. When children get to nursery, they “separate from their parents with ease” and are “eager and ready to play and learn”.

Inspectors found that “secure and trusting relationships” are built between staff and children, creating a “calm and nurturing environment” where children show that they are “happy and content”.
