New Delhi: The Great Indian Kapil Show recently returned for a second season last week. While the show’s first season premiere featured Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, the second season premiere had Alia Bhatt, along with Karan Johar, Vedang Raina and Vasan Bala as the guests to promote their upcoming film, Jigra. However, the episode wasn’t as impactful as the one featuring Ranbir last season.
According to Netflix’s Global Top 10 list, The Great Indian Kapil Show, which debuted on September 22, claimed the number eight spot on the non-English TV list for last week, with 1.2 million views and 1.4 million viewing hours.
This is half of what the episode featuring Ranbir Kapoor garnered upon its premiere. That episode debuted inside the top three with a viewership of 2.4 million, The Indian Express reported.
The viewership for season one spiralled after the first episode. In week two, during the first season, the show slipped to the fifth spot. In the third week, the show featured the cast of Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Amar Singh Chamkila.
However, this didn’t create any magic either, and the show further slipped to the seventh spot with a total view of 1.7 million. During the course of the first season, the show featured several celebrities such as Vicky Kaushal-Sunny Kaushal, Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol-Bobby Deol, Ed Sheeran, Anil Kapoor-Farah Khan, Janhvi Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao, Sania Mirza- Mary Kom, and the entire cast of Heeramandi, among others.
